Top Six Reasons You Will Have the Best Time Ever in Medora in June

Some might say that things get better with age, but I’m here to tell you that in Medora – the early bird gets the worm.

As we open the season, these are the reasons that I think you’ll have the best time in Medora if you come in June.

1. Be the First to See The Shows

See the shows first and make your friends jealous. Ever been the first to use new things? The amphitheater has new chairs, a new show, but the same great family feel!

And you can hardly call the Old Town Hall Theater ‘old’ anymore! It’s been updated and improved to handle the series we’re calling Broadway in the Badlands. There’s plenty of NEW entertainment to get in on there.

2. The Grass Is Greener

No, really it is! The spring rains make flowers brighter and the grass is greener. At this time of year, you can’t take a bad photo of Theodore Roosevelt National Park or Medora landscapes in June! As the sun continues to make its presence known, the Badlands of North Dakota transform right before our eyes and remind us that fall is (all too near) right around the corner.

3. See the Wild Animals LIVE

Have you seen anything cuter than a baby bison? Me either! Turns out they grown up and grow bigger pretty fast. That doesn’t mean they aren’t incredible, but they lose a little bit of that “cuteness.”

4. Perfect Temps in June

It’s Goldilocks weather. Not too hot and not too cold.

If you’re an early riser, the fresh morning air matches the light dew that rests on the grass.  Draw early and get the perfect sunrise picture over the beautiful badlands by hiking up Ridgeline Trail or taking a drive to the Painted Canyon Overlook.

The afternoon sky is likely filled with fluffy clouds and a bright sun. Temps in June average a high of 79°F. This is a perfect time to walk the sidewalks or boardwalk in the city or take in a show at the air-conditioned Old Town Hall Theater.

Medora evenings cool down just a little but not until 7:30pm or 8pm on the best days. That’s just in time to get snuggled into the evening’s activities happening at the Burning Hills Amphitheater. A light jacket in June is a good idea for any fair-weather friends.

5. Just In Time

If you get to Medora in June, you’ll have the rest of the summer to come back one more time!

With so many events to choose from the summer schedule likely has another of your favorites tee’d up. Speaking of swinging sticks, the Bully Pulpit Golf Course will throw you a different game nearly every day so you can’t possibly play it too many times in one summer!

The secret about Medora is that new memories are waiting to be created every time you visit. That makes it different every day!  The History stays the same but the players change!

6. See #1. No one wants to be last!

And no one wants to miss out.

7. BONUS REASON

Summer will be over before you know it! If you think your schedule is already full, do your best to find an open day or two. The weekdays are as exciting in Medora as are the weekends. HINT: they are a little less crowded too.

So –

Bring the whole family (like the whole family!! Medora is great for family reunions) or just a few friends. We’ve got seats, beds, plates, and things to do!
