Every year, hundreds of families make their way back to Medora to fulfil a tradition that goes back decades.
Sure, Medora is known for its Musical talent, its fantastic entertainment, and its friendly workers.
With live shows like the Medora Musical and Jared Mason: LIVE!, concerts like Legends: a Tribute by Kat Perkins and 1964: The Tribute, and historical re-enactments like A TR Salute to Medora, it’s no surprise that Medora’s other attractive qualities get lost in the mix.
But everyone’s got to eat, and conveniently, Medora has some of the best food you’ll ever taste!
The first week of June was full of painting activities for Medora visitors. The first ever “Spur Your Inner Artist with Drawing and Watercolor” 4 -day workshop was held in the Bill and Jane Life Skills Center from June 5-8th.
Taught by Wahpeton, ND native and visual artist/veteran teacher Barbara Benda Nagle, this class was a creative vacation for those who may benefit from the inspiration of the Badlands. Many in the class signed up for the Stay and Paint package, which included the workshop, lodging and the Medora Musical. At least half of the students classified themselves as beginner artists yet they all progressed rapidly through the process from drawing to painting.
This weekend, July 14 – 16, marks the 4th Annual Gathering of TRs sponsored by the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation.
A troupe of TRs will take the city by storm this weekend as Theodore Roosevelt Re-enactors from around the nation pour into Medora for this much anticipated annual convention. READ MORE »
However, no one is more excited than the Medora Musical Cast.
Because not only is it Independence Day Weekend and the 4th of July, but this Saturday marks the 53rd Anniversary of the Medora Musical!
If you’ve ever spent any time in Theodore Roosevelt National Park, you’ll know there is way too much to see in just one day. In fact, there might be way too much to see in a week, or a year, or even a life time!
Even so, the Rangers at TR National Park want to help you discover as much as you possibly can about the park and the wildlife that call it home while you’re here in Medora, and this is why they have a plethora of actives lined up every week! READ MORE »
There was singing.

You’ve reached the back nine! Your drives were true and your irons accurate. Now the real test of your golf skill begins. We’ll start you off slowly, but once fourteen comes around — all bets are off.
Rattlesnakes will rattle in the brush. Your golf cart will squeal as you question whether or not it’ll make it up the bluff. Captivating vistas await, but so do daunting tee shots and tucked-away pins. You’re golfing IN the Badlands. Not around them, in them. As General Alfred Sully would say, “the Badlands look like Hell with the fires put out.” No golfing experience comes close to this.
You’re rounds almost finished. Plan your shots out and execute them. Just make sure you take the time to appreciate the scenery. Bully! READ MORE »
