Bully Pulpit golfers are going to start noticing something new about the course as they make their way around this fall, and next spring. We’re making some big changes at the course, and we’re about as excited as we were 16 years ago when we opened the tee boxes for the first time.READ MORE »

Women of Medora features inspiring women who have made an impact on the world through their time living and working in Medora.
Kathy Solga, an Inspiring Woman
If you stop out at Medora’s Bully Pulpit Golf Course on a September afternoon, you’ll notice a few things.
First, the summer tourist season doesn’t appear to be over in the least, with a full parking lot, bustling pro shop, and shiny, scoria-colored golf carts zipping around almost every breathtaking hole. (While the famed Medora Musical wraps up the second weekend of September, Bully Pulpit keeps hosting golfers until late October, or until the snow flies—whichever comes first.)
Second, if you’re looking for golf shop manager Kathy Solga, you may have to get in line, as it seems just about everyone on the course knows her and wants to give her a warm hello. But don’t worry—not only will she be happy to take time to visit, she’ll make you feel like you are the only person in the room.
It’s one of the best weeks of the year baby! Masters Week!
But not everyone thinks it’s so great.. those non-golfnuts at work and at home will probably try and keep you from watching the greatest golf tournament on God’s green earth!
Luckily you have friends like us here at Bully Pulpit.
We put our heads together and came up with a full proof excuses — er, reasons — for every situation you may encounter.
You’ve reached the back nine! Your drives were true and your irons accurate. Now the real test of your golf skill begins. We’ll start you off slowly, but once fourteen comes around — all bets are off.
Rattlesnakes will rattle in the brush. Your golf cart will squeal as you question whether or not it’ll make it up the bluff. Captivating vistas await, but so do daunting tee shots and tucked-away pins. You’re golfing IN the Badlands. Not around them, in them. As General Alfred Sully would say, “the Badlands look like Hell with the fires put out.” No golfing experience comes close to this.
You’re rounds almost finished. Plan your shots out and execute them. Just make sure you take the time to appreciate the scenery. Bully! READ MORE »

Most of the trails are good to fair. The staff is continue to work on maintenance and grooming to make the trails enjoyable for you. Your best ski and snowshoe experience would be found toward the northern end of the trail system. The trail conditions as of 1-10-14 are as follows: READ MORE »
New snow came on the 19th! The Bully Pulpit Trails and the Medora area received 5 inches of new soft snow. While the snow fell, we were hard at work in the cat packing the base for a smooth trail; the additional snow that fell during the day made for some very good conditions on the trail system. All trails were groomed the morning of the 20th, and the updates have been made to the conditions signage at the trailhead.
Where snow conditions were poor, they have now improved to fair for skiers and snowshoers. The Cottonwood and Lil Mo trail are in fair condition with some vegetation poking through the base, but very navigable. The other four trails – Cedar, Butte, Ash, and Prairie – are all in good condition and ready for you to enjoy.
Enjoy the new snow and the rest of the holiday season! We’ll see you on the trail.
Bully Pulpit is truly a golf experience unmatched anywhere else. But sometimes we wonder if we’re a little biased because of our love for the Badlands as a whole. Recently, though, Minnesota Tee Times‘ Michael Herzog made the trek to Medora to take in the Bully Pulpit experience for himself.
After a day on the course and night on the town, we think Michael may now have the same feelings for the Badlands as we do. Here are a few snippets from his recent story.
“I am often asked by friends, “Why would I invest my time, money, and resources into the eight hour drive to Medora to play Bully Pulpit?” and I can answer that with one word: simple. You will find that Bully Pulpit Golf Course and the city of Medora provide what Bully Pulpits’ PGA Head Golf Professional, Casey Moen, refers to as ‘The Crescendo Effect.’ READ MORE »

Opening night of the Medora Musical and Pitchfork Steak Fondue not only marks the beginning of an exciting season for us, but also the start of many new adventures and life changing experiences in Medora. The beauty of the North Dakota Badlands, historical landmarks, and fun family attractions continue to captivate folks from across the region, nation, and even the world!
The Medora Musical performs nightly at 8:30 p.m. MDT debuting this Friday, June 8. This year’s show will feature catchy songs, high energy choreography, beautiful sets, and fantastic guest variety acts. Eight brand new Burning Hills Singers join our host, the Queen of the West, Emily Walter and our live band, the Coal Diggers! The Medora Musical showcases the talent of the Burning Hills Singers while remaining true to the founding principles set forth by Harold Schafer: horses, singing, dancing, world-class variety acts, gospel, patriotism and much more in a family show!
BreakSk8 – June 8 – June 30, 2012
In 1964, Harold Schafer contracted with Al Sheehan of Minneapolis to create a show for his newly acquired amphitheater. Harold asked Al to identify variety acts to include in the show that the folks from North Dakota would not have to travel far from home to see. World-class variety acts right in our own backyard! Continuing with that tradition we are kicking off the 2012 season with a variety act that you won’t want to miss!
Breaksk8, a Hip Hop dance crew on roller skates from Kokomo, Indiana, has been featured on several TV shows including NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew,” and Disney’s hit show “Shake it Up.” Since the group formed in 2001, Breaksk8 has amazed audiences around the globe with their unique style of entertainment on wheels. Most recently Breaksk8 was featured on the Hunan Satellite Network, which was viewed by more than 500 million people in mainland China.
