Q & A with 2014 Burning Hills Singer, Damon Fichter

1) What made you decide to, or want to, audition for the Medora Musical?

Damon Fichter

I have wanted to audition for the Medora Musical ever since I was a child. I have enjoyed watching the show almost every year of my life. As an aspiring performer from Dickinson, North Dakota, this opportunity will also give me a fantastic foundation to continue furthering my career.

2) What was going through your head when you got the call to join the cast? How are you feeling now, after the reality has started to sink in that you’ll be in the 2014 Medora Musical, and rehearsals are not too far off?

I officially got the call while I was sitting in my writing class, and I immediately recognized the Minnesota area code. I quickly listened to the voicemail, while also trying to hide it from the teacher, and when I heard the news, it took everything in me to keep me from cheering. Initially, I was ecstatic, anxious, nervous, in disbelief, and amazed.

As of now, I have calmed down — only a little — and I can’t wait until we start rehearsals.

Fichter is currently attending Dickinson State University pursuing a degree in Music Performance and Theater, while Delanie is wrapping her senior year of high school in Hazen, while also serving as Miss Dickinson 2014.

The 2014 Medora Musical shows every night, June 6 to September 6, at 7:30 p.m. MDT, in the 2,900-seat Burning Hills Amphitheatre.
